The FINANCIAL — The seaside city Batumi on the Black Sea coast is about to become an international resort with its constructions, infrastructure improvement, nightlife and European resorts standards.
While visiting Batumi tourists are captured by its beauty and hospitality together with the unified styles of old, classical and modern. When visiting Batumi, The FINANCIAL found out that most of the visitors there are very content with the renewed city.
“While walking through the streets of Batumi you feel as though you are in a European city, the architecture and the design are stylish, as is the combination of east and west. The pleasant atmosphere, greenery and entertainment facilities fill you with positivity and provide the best means for both resting and enjoying the night life,” said Ketevan Abashidze, 21.
“The city’s architecture is brilliant. I haven’t been in Batumi for a long time and I so Inoticed the very remarkable changes in the city and its lifestyle straight away. The new, high profile hotels are also breathtaking, especially the Sheraton, which is a really beautiful, modern and stylish building,” said Kote Kapanadze 22.
“I have seen a lot of changes in Batumi and I can proudly say that Batumi already has great potential and is about to become a European standard resort,” said Khatia Gugunava, 30.
Despite the very positive aspects of Batumi city, according to some of the tourists, visiting Batumi during the long construction process is one of the things that they don’t like about being in the city.
“The only thing that I don’t like about being in Batumi is that the streets are in the process of construction and that makes me feel slightly uncomfortable. I am sure that when everything is over and Batumi’s various constructions are finally built, mny more tourists will visit the resort,” said Ketevan Abashidze.
“Of course it is good that there are many ongoing constructions in Batumi but when the summer season has already started, visitors complain about the damaged roads,” Gugunava said.
“What I dislike about Batumi is the environment, which still has some problems, and the beggars who really make people angry and seriously detract from the city. All in all Batumi has really big potential and I am proud that Georgia has such a high quality resort,” Kapanadze told The FINANCIAL.
The people interviewed by The FINANCIAL say that the sea coast should definitely be improved; it could be made more attractive than it already is.
With the high standards of hotels like the Sheraton and Radisson, which are under the process of construction, there are many newly constructed clubs and restaurants where visitors can enjoy their time. In a very short time there will be a new lounge bar – Soho, opening in Batumi.
“The Soho lounge bar will be opened by 20 July. We will host some jazz bands there, both Georgian and foreign. Our target audience will be people from 25 years. The prices will be quite high in our lounge bar and due to the jazz music style and slightly higher prices our visitors will more likely be adults from 25 yeas up,” said Lasha Okromchedlishvili, Manager of Soho.
“As the Soho Lounge Bar is in front of the Sheraton hotel, our most frequent guests will be the guests of the hotel, who will enjoy the Jazz music and simply be able to chill,” Okromchedlishvili said.
According to the local people in Batumi, construction of a new park has already started and the budget of building this park is quite high. The parks and boulevards are very well decorated in Batumi, tourists have the ability to rest in a green park surrounded by beautiful, colourful flowers.
“If you have had enough of swimming in the sea and lying on the beach and it’s too hot, you may enjoy sitting or lying in a cool park. I myself like to relax by sitting in these beautiful green parks,” Kapanadze said.
“It was a surprise for me to see such well organized and attractive boulevards and parks in Batumi this summer. I am sure that this resort can already compete with its neighbour country Turkey and many European resorts too,” Gugunava said.
