The FINANCIAL — Bausch + Lomb on February 25 announced the introduction of Bausch + Lomb ULTRA for Presbyopia contact lenses, a monthly replacement silicone hydrogel lens that combines the company’s innovative MoistureSeal technology, which delivers exceptional end-of-day comfort1, with the 3-Zone Progressive design found in Biotrue ONEday for Presbyopia daily disposable contact lenses.
“We are proud to provide eye care professionals a new innovative multifocal lens that unites our MoistureSeal technology with the outstanding optics customers have come to expect from Bausch + Lomb contact lenses,” said Mark McKenna, senior vice president and general manager, U.S. Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb. “This advancement is an important mark in our continuum of innovation in eye health as we work to deliver technologies that help grow eye care professional’s practices and provide the best quality of vision for their patients.”
The combination of these advanced proprietary technologies provides presbyopic patients exceptional comfort and outstanding vision at near, intermediate, and distance while also providing Eye Care Professionals (ECPs) the convenience of easy and predictable lens fitting, according to Bausch + Lomb.
“Many of my multifocal lens-wearing patients are spending more time using digital devices and they struggle with dryness and vision, especially looking at their cell phones and working on their computer for prolonged periods,” said Ben Gaddie, OD, an eye care professional from Gaddie Eye Centers in Louisville, KY. “Bausch + Lomb ULTRA lenses are my monthly lens of choice and my patients continue to be very impressed with their wearing experience. To have this technology available for my presbyopic patients in a lens that is easy-to-fit and provides exceptional comfort and outstanding near, intermediate and distance vision, will be a welcomed addition in my practice.”
The 3-Zone Progressive design utilized in the new Bausch + Lomb ULTRA for Presbyopia contact lenses also allows ECPs to achieve an easy, predictable fit across all powers and from patient to patient through consistent add power across the powers.2 Combining this consistency with the need to only use two add powers and using the Bausch + Lomb ULTRA for Presbyopia simplified fitting guide, ECPs are also able to streamline the multi-focal fitting process.
“More than 70% of multifocal contact lens wearers report having difficulty with their vision while working, particularly at near and intermediate distance,” said Jill Saxon, OD, director of Professional Strategy,
Bausch + Lomb. “The combination of our proprietary MoistureSeal technology, which helps lenses remain as comfortable at the end of the day as they are at the beginning, and the proven 3-Zone Progressive design, which delivers clarity through consistency, offers ECPs a multifocal contact lens designed for today’s patients. The consistent power profile across the entire range allows an easy, predictable fit for the ECP and the consistent power within each zone will help deliver the clarity of vision patients’ need and expect from a multifocal contact lens.”
