The FINANCIAL — The “Become a Millionaire” lottery helped TBC Bank to increase the number of its depositors which was sharply reduced during the Russia-Georgia War in 2008. TBC Bank Management says this project was successful, but that it can be suspended as the initial goal has been achieved.
Nona Jirtmenadze, 25, a TBC Bank depositor, became the winner of TBC Bank’s grand prize of 1 million GEL. An award ceremony was organized last week at the bank’s largest office on Marjanishvili str, Tbilisi.
During the raffle the Become a Millionaire market share of TBC Bank made up of individual depositors rose by 6.2%. The Bank now occupies 33.5% of the segment, says Vakhtang Butskhrikidze, CEO, TBC Bank.
From February 2009 the number of termed deposits increased by 45,000 and reached the volume of 455 million GEL. The total capacity of the deposit portfolio at the end of the raffle was 626 million GEL.
“Launching this initiative was a right step and participation of the famous actor Kakhi Kavsadze gave good results. In 2009 TBC Bank increased its market share in retail banking by 2% thanks to the Become a Millionaire campaign,” Vakhtang Butskhrikidze told The FINANCIAL.
Butskhrikidze says that for 2010 the Bank will change their strategy.
“We would like to express our special thanks to all of our customers that have stood next to us during the political and economical instability in Georgia.”
“From 2010 the number of winners of similar campaigns will be larger,” he says.
