The FINANCIAL — ROME. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has said he considers women smarter and more responsible than men, according to RIA Novosti.
"Women know how much I respect them. I have always treated them with great attention and respect in both my business and in the government," the prime minister, embroiled in several sex scandals, said in a broadcast on one of his TV channels.
Several thousand Italian women took part in demonstrations on February 13 in Rome and other 230 cities and towns across Italy, accusing Berlusconi of disrespect towards them and urging him to resign.
Milan's prosecutor's office has accused the prime minister of paying for sex with Moroccan-born Karima El Mahroug, now 18, when she was 17 years old.
