The FINANCIAL — KPMG on June 8 announced that Bernard Salt AM will continue working with the firm as a Special Adviser, following his retirement from the partnership on 30 June 2017.
From 1 July, Bernard Salt will provide market commentary and demographic insights on key business issues for KPMG via his own business.
Margaret Cowle, KPMG’s National Managing Partner, Brand & Engagement, paid tribute to Bernard Salt’s significant contribution to the firm, and welcomed the continued relationship: “From smashed avos, to sea-changes, to man droughts, Bernard has made demographics a household name since he joined KPMG with his team almost twenty years ago.”
“He has become one of the country’s most in-demand corporate speakers as well as most popular columnists. We thank Bernard for his contribution and very much look forward to working with him in a new way, continuing to engage Australian business with his social observations.”
After joining KPMG in 1998 to lead the development of a property feasibility practice, Bernard Salt developed an interest in the demographics behind property projects. In the years that followed, he began to present his views on demographics in the media via columns, the professional speaking circuit, and subsequently, as the author of six books. He has presented all over the world on behalf of KPMG.
Bernard Salt commented: “KPMG has been wonderfully supportive of my left-field but very public offering to the Australian business community. And I am so pleased that this support is continuing via my role as a Special Adviser to the firm.”
The value of Bernard Salt’s commentary was acknowledged in January when he was awarded a Member (AM) in the General Division Of The Order Of Australia for significant service to the community as a demographer, and through research and commentary on social and cultural change, according to KPMG.
