The FINANCIAL — More than 31 thousand individuals will face the reality of the stock exchange and, most importantly, learn how to invest in a smart way in order to become real-life knowledgeable investors in the future.
The intricacies of the stock exchange can be discovered among others on the extensive educational platform GPWtr@der which brings together users of the Capital Game (previously the School Online Exchange Game, an educational project about investments, in operation for 12 years, addressed to senior high school students). It is the first such educational campaign in the history of Warsaw Stock Exchange.
The GPWtr@der platform closely emulates the real-life stock exchange. Investors use virtual money but their orders are executed based on bid and ask quotes sourced from the real market. Similar to the derivatives market, the game also simulates charging of broker’s fees. Virtual investors will feel like they are investing for real, especially that the platform operates within UTP, WSE’s new trading system, and publishes data with a 15-minute delay. With its mechanisms, GPWtr@der is an easy, quick and, most importantly, risk-free (any loss is virtual) way to learn the basics of investment and to use simple investment strategies. As a result, investors gain the experience necessary to invest real money on the exchange.
Previously the demo platform offered educational trading in futures on stocks, bonds, indices, currencies and interest rates. However, the stock exchange is mainly about equities: from now on, the GPWtr@der platform users can put their skills to a test also on the equities market.
“Since the inception of WSE, we have paid special attention to retail investors. The educational platform GPWtr@der has been designed for them. We want to offer future investors a platform which closely emulates the actual conditions of trading on the exchange. From now on, future investors can put their skills to a test in virtual trading in equities and derivatives and, in future, also in bonds,” said Adam Maciejewski, President of WSE.
The expanded version of GPWtr@der, now also available in English, gains increasing popularity. Brokerage houses are planning to use the educational potential of the demo platform by offering it to clients as a training tool in exchange investments. GPWtr@der will also support investor competitions.
