The FIANNCIAL — On 25 June 2015, the Georgian Foreign Ministry hosted another round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Georgia and the Czech Republic.
Deputy Foreign Minister Gigi Gigiadze headed the Georgian delegation, while the Czech delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Petr Drulák, according to MFA Georgia.
The delegations discussed a wide range of issues including bilateral and multilateral co-operation. Special emphasis was put on high level of existing political relations between Georgia and Czech Republic. Talking points included also bilateral relations, including co-operation in the fields of economy, culture, education and science as well as future prospects for strengthening bilateral legislative framework. Gigi Gigiadze welcomed the Czech Foreign Ministry’s efforts to promote the strengthening of Georgia’s economic potential and expressed his gratitude for a significant assistance rendered to Georgia in the frames of the development promotion programme of the Czech Republic. The delegations expressed their readiness to plan high level bilateral visits between the two countries in the nearest future.
Special attention was paid to Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the progress Georgia has recently achieved in this regard. The Czech side reaffirmed its support for integration of Georgia with the EU and, in this context, underlined the importance of implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU and integration of Georgia with NATO.
The delegations focused on the issues relating to regional security, relations between Georgia and Russia, situation in the occupied territories and the format of Geneva Discussions.
The Czech delegation once again reaffirmed its government’s unequivocal support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Within the framework of the visit, Petr Drulák will visit the village of Ditsi and Mereti adjacent to the occupation line; he will also meet some Czech EUMM monitors. It should be noted that the Czech Republic has 16 monitors in the EUMM in Georgia.
The Czech Deputy Foreign Minister will hold meetings with Georgian State Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration David Bakradze and Deputy State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.
