The FINANCIAL — Britannia Hotels has acquired its second property in Scotland – the 105-bedroom Waterside Inn in Peterhead – taking its portfolio of UK hotels to 43.
Located 35 miles north of Aberdeen, the property has been sold by Matrix Investors and was previously branded as a Swallow hotel. It incorporates Ogilvies restaurant and two bars, alongside extensive conference facilities, a leisure club, swimming pool, spa, steam room and gym.
As Caterer and Hotelkeeper said, the hotel joins the group’s first hotel in Scotland, the 144-bedroom Britannia Hotel Aberdeen.
Ken Sims, director of Christie + Co, which marketed the hotel said: “Its extensive array of facilities and very strong trade — drawn particularly from the local oil and fishing industries — means the Waterside Inn already enjoys excellent all-year-round commercial business.”
