The FINANCIAL — Bulgaria expresses its unequivocal support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and for the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. The Government of Bulgaria expresses its readiness to render methodological and logistical support to Georgia in the process of the country’s integration with the EU and NATO, – Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov said at the meeting with his Georgian counterpart Giorgi Kvirikashvili in Sofia.
Daniel Mitov and Giorgi Kvirikashvili also discussed co-operation between Bulgaria and Georgia in the frames of the economic, transport, energy and infrastructure projects; highlighted the importance of the two countries as transit routes of gas links between Europe and Asia as well as the contribution of Black Sea transport corridors Poti-Burgas and Varna-Poti to the connectivity between the two continents.
The two Foreign Ministers underlined the dynamic development of bilateral political and economic co-operation against a background of the current complex political situation in the Middle East and Black Sea region, according to MFA of Georgia.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked his colleague for Bulgaria’s support of Georgia in the process of visa liberalisation with the EU; for support of NATO’s “open door” policy; and for participation in the EUMM and in other initiatives in Georgia. Giorgi Kvirikashvili underlined the need to share Bulgaria’s experience in terms of economic diplomacy in the context of strengthening economic directions at the Georgian Foreign Ministry.
In conclusion, the Ministers focused on the necessity to continue intensive bilateral dialogue; on the visit of Daniel Mitov to Georgia; and on the conduction of bilateral political consultations in 2016.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili visited Bulgaria in the frames of the official visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to Sofia.
