The FINANCIAL — Ninety-five per cent of the 2016 Masters in Management (MiM) graduates from London Business School accepted job offers within three months of graduation and six started their own businesses, according to the latest employment figures from the School.
The School’s MiM Employment Report, published today, shows a strong employment rate for its MiM graduates.
“We are delighted that 95% of our Masters in Management (MiM) 2016 cohort secured employment within three months of graduating. This is testament to their qualities, attributes and flexibility in a moving market. It’s fantastic to see our 2016 MiMs working in 100 companies across 39 cities and 26 countries,” reports Lara Berkowitz, Executive Director, Career Centre, London Business School.
Of the 95% who accepted job offers within three months of graduating, 42% accepted jobs in the consulting sector, while 34% accepted roles in finance. There was a 2% rise in graduates going into the technology sector (11%), according to London Business School.
“Students’ sector choices confirm the trends we have been seeing in recent years. Most notably, recruitment has continued to grow in the consulting and technology sectors, with 42% and 13% of our students choosing to enter these sectors respectively,” Berkowitz says.
The School’s Masters in Management class grew to 195 students in 2016, and although a similar number of students chose to accept roles in the UK upon graduation, the number taking up roles in continental Europe rose significantly, from 23% in 2015 to 32% in 2016.
“The range of hiring companies has continued to increase, with 100 companies hiring at least one student from the programme this year. We saw a welcome rise in the number of companies hiring more than one student, with 29 such companies this year, almost 40% more than in 2015. This again demonstrates the impact MiM graduates continue to have internationally and across sectors,” Berkowitz says.
2015 also saw an increase in overall salaries, with the average salary rising by more than 10% compared to 2015, reaching an average of ($66,444 international dollars (£41,963)).
“It’s been another great year and we’re proud of what our MiM graduates have achieved. We’re particularly excited by the growth of our Early Career programme and the launch of the Masters in Financial Analysis in September 2016, which continues to broaden the range of talent we have at this career stage,” Berkowitz says.
