The FINANCIAL — The Cabinet of Ministers has relieved Yurii Lutsenko of his post as minister of internal affairs until investigation into the incident at Frankfurt am Main airport (Germany) where he was involved is completed, Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Verkhovna Rada Chairman, told a Rada’s Conciliatory Council meeting.
«I have spoken today with Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. She said Lutsenko had no more held his post as minister of internal affairs, under the Verkhovna Rada decision,» he said.
The Verkhovna Rada will discuss Lutsenko’s dismissal as soon as the government completes official investigation into the case, the Verkhovna Rada Speaker said.
As Ukrainian News reported, the Verkhovna Rada recommended the Cabinet of Ministers on May 15 to relieve Lutsenko of his post as minister of internal affairs until the official investigation into the circumstances of the incident occurred with the Interior Ministry delegation, headed by Lutsenko, at Frankfurt am Main airport (Germany) is completed.
The German mass media reported on May 4 that the German police detained Lutsenko in the state of acute intoxication after a conflict between the delegation of the ministry headed by Interior Minister Yurii Lutsenko and German security officers at Frankfurt am Main Airport.
Lutsenko submitted a resignation letter on May 12.
