The FINANCIAL — The Cabinet of Ministers has submitted copies of gas agreements Ukraine and Russia signed in January to the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defence, Committee Head Anatolii Hrytsenko said during an Internet press conference at Ukrainska Pravda.
"The Cabinet of Ministers delivered the copies of the January 19 agreements with two-and-a half-month delay last week (April 1-5). We are currently studying them," Hrytsenko said.
The Commission needs the documents to find out how the gas agreements between Ukraine and Russia were reached, to estimate and maximize positive advantages and minimize negative after-effects if any, he said.
Hrytsenko noted he had directed an inquiry about the documents to the prime minister on January 20.
As Ukrainian News reported, Hrytsenko said in early January that the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defence intended to demand that the Cabinet of Ministers and the Naftohaz Ukrainy national joint stock company provided the committee with the copies of gas contracts and agreements reached between Ukraine and Russia in Moscow, Russia, on January 19.
The Committee did not rule out that it could appeal to the General Prosecutor's Office to get the copies of the agreements.
