The FINANCIAL — The government of Canada is donating CAD 50,000 (CHF 38,368) to help least-developed countries (LDCs) participate in the WTO’s Tenth Ministerial Conference, which will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, on 15-18 December. The Ministerial Conference is to be held in Africa for the first time since the WTO was created in 1995.
WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo said: “Canada’s latest donation is very welcome in supporting least-developed countries’ participation in the WTO’s Nairobi Ministerial Conference. It is essential that trade negotiations help these countries to integrate into the global economy.”
Canada’s contribution will help to ensure that ministers from least-developed countries can fully participate in the multilateral trading system. Since 2002, Canada has donated CHF 12,098,798 to WTO trust funds, according to WTO.
