The FINANCIAL — Canadian retail sales advanced in June on higher gasoline prices and robust demand for cellphones, although the underlying data were mixed with volumes flat for the month, according to Nasdaq.
The value of Canadian retail sales rose 0.6% to a seasonally adjusted 43.19 billion Canadian dollars ($33.02 billion), which was ahead of expectations for a 0.2% gain, according to economists at Royal Bank of Canada.
Retail sales volumes, meanwhile, stalled in the month. Analysts keep close track of volumes because it offers a better gauge on economic activity for the month.
