The FINANCIAL — The Georgian Vice Premier, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with Canada’s Special Envoy to Europe and the EU the Former Foreign Minister of Canada Stephane Dion.
The sides discussed a braod spectrum of bilateral relations highlighting the huge potential for trade-economic co-opertaion between the two countries. Mikheil Janelidze briefed the Canadian side on the implemented and ongoing reforms in Georgia, including in the areas of economy and effective administration that contributes to the further strengthening of bilateral business relations with Canada. The Canadian side highly appraised the Georgian Government’s progress towards democratic and economic reforms.
The Georgian Foreign Minister thanked the Canadian administration for Canada’s firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for Canada’s practical assistance in the process of Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and the implementation of the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package, according to MFA of Georgia.
Discussions also focused on the latest development in the region. Stephane Dion welcomed the Georgian government’s active efforts towards maintaining peace and stability both in the region and globally.
