The FINANCIAL — Carrefour announces the completion of the BILLA remodeling process in Romania, a process that lasted 7 months (beginning March 1, 2017) and was later marked by the opening of BILLA’s first store in Bucharest, Market Liberty Mall.
The remodeling process ended September 21, 2017 (after approximately 7 months) with the transformation of the last 4 stores, from BILLA to Market, in the cities of: Bucharest (2 stores), Timisoara and Mangalia.
On December 2015, Carrefour announced the signing of an agreement to acquire Billa Romania, with the Rewe Group and on June 2016, the Competition Council validates the acquisition of the 86 Billa stores. Due to this acquisition, Carrefour became the first supermarket operator in Romania as a geographical presence, thus meeting its multi-format offer and coming closer to its customers.
Mixed teams BILLA and Market have worked together both on the plans and layouts (deco) in the stores as well as on the assortment and the opening plan of the remodeled stores, according to Carrefour.
In Romania, the Carrefour Group has 303 stores, including 32 Carrefour hypermarkets, 218 supermarkets (203 ‘Market’ stores and 15 Express Orange stores), 42 ‘Express’ proximity stores, 10 ‘Contact’ an online store.
