The FINANCIAL — Ministry of Health of the People’s Republic of China announced today (Sunday 24 May) that an infant passenger on Cathay Pacific flight CX841 from New York to Hong Kong (19 May departure) with a connecting flight from Hong Kong to Fuzhou (20 May departure) has since tested positive for Influenza A (H1N1).
Cathay Pacific Airways can confirm that the passenger was seated with her companion in the Economy Class section in seat 39E on CX841 who arrived at Hong Kong International Airport at 2:03pm HK time on Wednesday (20 May). There were 66 passengers (including 3 infants) in the same cabin zone, i.e. the same row and the three rows in front and three rows behind the passenger.
According to Cathay Pacific records, twelve of those ended their journey in Hong Kong while the remaining 54 were transit passengers to Fuzhou (25), Shanghai (6), Beijing (3), Nanning (2), Nanjing (2), Dalian (1), Taipei (4), Kaohsiung (3), Manila (3), Jakarta (2), Bangkok (2), and Penang (1).
Of all the 314 passengers on CX841, eighty-two of them (including 12 infants) took connecting flights to Fuzhou on the same day.
A total of 314 passengers (including 13 infants), four cockpit crew and 14 cabin crew were on board the flight.
Cathay Pacific will comply with requests from health authorities to provide details of the passengers and the operation crew manifest to determine if medical follow-up is necessary.
