The FINANCIAL — An EU-funded project for the popularization of centres of oral history in the Latvia-Belarus cross-border area, implemented under the ENPI Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) programme, has created a unique virtual museum of oral history in Belarus, relating to events of the 20th century that took place in the Grodno and Vitebsk region of Belarus and Latgale region in Latvia.
Historians collected more than 200 interviews, audio recordings and photographs from eyewitnesses of the last century, as well as text materials in Russian, Belarusian, Latvian and English, according to EU Neighbourhood Info Centre.
Â
The platform has collected information relating to inter-ethnic relations in the border areas of Belarus and Latvia, the events of the Polish period of the last century, the Second World War, the partisan movement during the Great Patriotic War, the military life, and the history of post-war reconstruction.
