The FINANCIAL — According to RIA Novosti, Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao will pay an official visit to Moscow on October 27-29, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on October 20.
During the three-day visit, the Chinese premier is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, as part of the 13th regular meeting of the Russian and Chinese heads of government.
The preparations for the visit were discussed on October 30 at a meeting between Russia's deputy foreign minister, Alexei Borodavkin, and China's ambassador to Russia, Liu Guchang. The sides also discussed bilateral cooperation.
Guchang said relations between Russia and China had reached "an unprecedentedly high level," adding that Russian-Chinese trade in January-August this year had increased 24.8% year-on year, to $37.5 billion.
Last week, Russia transferred the Yinlong (Tarabarov) Island, half of the Heixiazi (Bolshoi Ussuriysky) Island and the Bolshoi Island on the Argun River in the East Siberian Chita Region to China as part of an addendum to a 2004 agreement on the Russian-Chinese border.
