The FINANCIAL — The newly appointed chairman of the Hotel Booking Agents Association intends to provide an opportunity for more young people to work in the industry, according to Caterer and Hotelkeeper.
Chris Peacock, who officially takes over his new role at the HBAA's annual general meeting, is to encourage members to offer one-year work placements to undergraduates studying event management.
During his one-year tenure in the role, Peacock, who is the co-founder and director of Conference Care, also aims to improve the financial footing of the organisation and raise its profile within the corporate market.
Peacock, who takes over as chairman from Juliet Price, was previously treasurer and vice chairman of the HBAA. He will be supported in his new role by Chris Parnham, managing director of Zibrant as vice chair.
Over 500 members pf the association are due to attend the HBAA's annual dinner tonight at the Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 where Peacock will make his inaugural speech. As well as outlining the association's objectives for the year ahead, he will also reveal the charity he has chosen for the HBAA to support in 2012.
