The FINANCIAL — The new winter schedule of Cologne Bonn Airport goes int0 effect on Sunday next, 25 October – and it offers more than ever before: in total, 5.4 million seats can be booked with the airlines in the winter.

That is 26 percent more than last year – a new record in the history of the airport. Over the winter, 87 destinations will be served by 22 airlines, 19 destinations are new on the timetable when compared with last winter. The strongest impulses for growth come from the new Lufthansa subsidiary, Eurowings, and Ireland’s Ryanair.  A particular highlight is the launch of the new Lufthansa subsidiary, Eurowings, which will be offering 10 low-cost long-haul routes from Cologne/Bonn from November onwards, among others to Bangkok, Phuket, Dubai and the Caribbean – and that at prices from €99.99 (Dubai) or from €199.99 (Bangkok) per segment. Mauritius will be added as the eleventh destination in the summer 2016, according to Cologne Bonn Airport.

Ryanair will be operating to six additional winter destinations. Apart from the recently launched service to Berlin-Schönefeld, the airline is building on its product in Europe. In the winter, for instance, there will be 14 flights per week to Milan-Bergamo, 7 each to Warsaw and Copenhagen.

Within Germany, Germanwings has started a new route to Berlin-Schönefeld and serves the route up to three times daily. And other airlines are also offering more services.

Wizz Air flies twice a week each to Cluj and Sofia, Intersky to Friedrichshafen (11 weekly flights) and Chalair nine times a week to Lyon in France. In addition, the winter schedule offers numerous connections to the classic year-round vacation destinations like Turkey, Spain or Egypt.
