The FINANCIAL — Georgia is the 79th after the Corruption Perception Index 2007 among 180 world countries. The rating is made by Transparency International. Georgia got 3,4 points of 10 possible.
Transparency International reports that positive development in the field is evident in Georgia in 2007. Georgia’s rating made 2,8 points in 2006.
The improving started after the “rose revolution”. The index made 1,8 points in 2003.
“Georgia is not already in the list of those countries, where corruption is the primary and insuperable problem”, – the Georgian Office of Transparent International mentions in its press release. It is noted that reforms are to be developed in some fields of the public sector.
Corruption Perception Index is made according to opinion of both the local and foreign businessmen as well as of the analysts concerning topicality of the problem of political corruption.
Denmark is leading after Corruption Perception Index 2007 – 9,4 points. Finland (9,6) and New Zealand (9,4) are following. Canada is the 9th (8,7), Great Britain – 12th (8,4) and USA – 20th (7,2 points).
Uzbekistan, Haiti, Iraq, Myanmar and Somalia are the last (175-179).
