The FINANCIAL — Marriott International announced plans to open the first Courtyard by Marriott brand hotel in Honduras in the city of San Pedro Sula, the industrial center of Honduras and the second largest city, after the capital Tegucigalpa.
The project will be developed by Grupo Karim’s, an international company that focuses on both real estate and the textile industry with businesses and properties in Latin America, the Caribbean, United States, United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, according to Marriott International, Inc.
The 121-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel, scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2015, will be located in the northern part of San Pedro Sula inside of the Altia mix-used development, the country’s first “smart city”, which includes the Altara Shopping and Lifestyle Center Mall, a world recognized university, UNITEC, a hospital, a high school and state of the art office buildings which include tenants such as Cargill, Pfizer, Citibank, and Ernst & Young as well as a wide variety of international BPOs and ITOs.

The hotel will feature the brand’s refreshing business lobby, lobby bar, a casual dining restaurant, flexible meeting space and recreational facilities including a swimming pool and sauna. Additionally, it will include the brand’s new modern guestroom design which is intuitive and thoughtful, offering flexible yet comfortable spaces that enable technology. Signature furniture and architectural elements will replace traditional art in the new guestroom design, according to Marriott International, Inc.
Marriott International is currently represented in Honduras with the 157-room Tegucigalpa Marriott Hotel.
