The FINANCIAL — Senior police from the Kyiv, Lviv and Kharkiv regions of Ukraine have returned from a European study visit on Scandinavian policing. As part of their trip to Denmark, officers observed the country’s annual tactical public order training exercises. Participants now plan to apply what they have learned to policing in Ukraine.
The visit, to the capital Copenhagen, was organised by the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) as part of a project to train Ukrainian police commanders in maintaining public order during mass events. Participants are learning about crowd psychology, evidence gathering, operational planning and intelligence-led policing. The project will continue in spring 2018, with more than 400 further National Police officers due to benefit from EUAM training, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
The EUAM launched on 1 December 2014 to support Ukraine’s state agencies in reforming civilian security. The mission works to bring about sustainable security services, to build public confidence and to instil respect for human rights, law enforcement and the rule of law.
