The FINANCIAL — Dartmoor Brewery has appointed Admiral Taverns managing director Kevin Georgel to its board as the company gears up for the next phase in its expansion, according to Caterer and Hotelkeeper.

The Devon brewery, which at almost 1,400ft above sea level is thought to be the highest in England, hopes that the former Coors executive will be able to help expand its beers beyond its heartland.

Dartmoor Brewery was established in 1994 and is jointly owned by founder Simon Loveless and publishing and leisure entrepreneur Philip Davies, who also serves as chairman. It is best known for its flagship Jail Ale and its Legend Ale, which recently won a three-star gold award at the national Great Taste awards.

In addition to working with Davies and his fellow board colleagues on strategic direction, Georgel is also expected to help the company identify a suitable managing director that can lead the group's ambitious development plans.
