The FINANCIAL — On 22 February 2016, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister David Dondua met Chairperson of the European Affairs Committee of the Latvian Parliament (Saeima) Lolita Čigāne, according to APK-Inform.
The two sides underlined the existing warm and friendly relations between their countries; focused on the fruitful co-operation between the legislative branches, including exchanging of high-level visits and intensive co-operation at the level of committees. The Saeima has more than once made statements supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity and European aspirations.
Talking points also included Georgia’s integration with the European structures. Lolita Čigāne positively assessed the progress achieved by Georgia, including the progress achieved in terms of visa liberalisation.
David Dondua and Lolita Čigāne focused on the prospects for future co-operation in different spheres in the frames of the Nordic-Baltic co-operation, given the fact that Latvia holds the chairmanship of the Nordic Council of Ministers of NB8 and the Baltic Assembly.
The high-level visits due to be held during this year were also discussed.
