The FINANCIAL — In the frames of a working visit to Brazil, Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani held bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers of Timor-Leste, São Tomé and Príncipe and Angola, President of Brazil-Georgia Group of Friends at the National Senate of Brazil, senator Aloysio Nunes and senator Antônio Anastasia, as well as with the heads of diplomatic missions the Embassy of Georgia is covering from the Federal Republic of Brazil (Surinam, Trinidad and Tobago, Columbia, Guyana and Peru).
A the meeting with Foreign Ministers of Timor-Leste, São Tomé and Príncipe and Angola, discussions focused on the directions of co-operation, on the importance of Georgia’s participation in CPLP with observer status, as well as on the need to strengthen co-operation in international organisations, to deepen economic and cultural relations and to improve the legal framework.
At the meeting with the Brazilian senators, talking points included the intensification of co-operation between the Parliaments of the two countries. David Zalkaliani informed the senators on the 8 October Parliamentary elections, which by the assessment of international observers were held in compliance with democratic principles, according to MFA of Georgia.
At the meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions, David Zalkaliani provided the Ambassadors with the detailed information on the exiting situation in the region, on the reforms carried out by the Georgian Government and on the October Parliamentary elections. The sides underlined the need to enhance co-operation in international organisations, to improve legal framework and to hold political consultations on a regular basis. The Ambassadors expressed their readiness to continue stable and partner co-operation with Georgia.
Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani took part in the 21st Conference of the Ministers and the 11th Conference of the Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese-speaking countries (CPLP), held in Brasilia. Georgia participated in the conference with the associated observer status granted to the country in 2014.
