The FINANCIAL — 27.09.2018, New York – Within the framework of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani held a meeting with his Guatemalan counterpart Sandra Erica Jovel Polanco.
The two ministers reaffirmed their readiness to promote close co-operation between Georgia and Guatemala both in bilateral and multilateral formats. David Zalkaliani thanked his Guatemalan counterpart for her Government’s firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The sides positively appraised the symbolic TV-link between Georgia and Guatemala allowing internally displaced persons from Georgia’s occupied regions and Jutiaba region to exchange their greetings.
The Georgian Foreign Minister updated his colleague on the Georgian Government’s peace initiative “A Step towards a Better Future”.
The Georgian side reaffirmed its readiness to develop its relations with the Central American countries highlighting in this context the importance of co-operation between Georgia and the Central American Integration System. The Guatemalan side expressed its interest in Georgia’s successful reforms in the fight against corruption and improvement of electronic services.
The ministers highly appraised the co-operation between Georgia and Guatemala within the framework of the UN.
