Speaking about the difficult security, human rights and humanitarian situation in the occupied territories, the sides paid special attention to the grave consequences of the installation of the barbed wire fences and artificial barriers along the occupation line, illegal detentions and the closure of so-called checkpoints. The sides reaffirmed the need to comply with the 12 August ceasefire agreement and to create international security arrangements on the ground. Discussions also focused on the importance of effectively using the Geneva International Discussions and the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM).
Special attention was paid to the recent killings of Georgian citizens Archil Tatunashvili, Giga Otkhozoria, and Davit Basharuli and the need to bring to justice the perpetrators of these brutal crimes.
