Davit Jalagania has met the newly-appointed Secretary General of GUAM

The FINANCIAL — Secretary General of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM Altai Efendiev paid a working visit to Tbilisi, according to MFA of Georgia.

As part of his visit to Georgia, Altai Efendiev met Davit Jalagania, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister and National Coordinator of GUAM. The Deputy Foreign Minister congratulated Altai Efendiev on his appointment and pledged him full support in his future endeavours.  For his part, the GUAM Secretary General reaffirmed his readiness to contribute to the further development of co-operation within the Organization and promote GUAM internationally.

Discussions focused on the issues relating to political and sectorial co-operation as well as on prospects for interaction with the GUAM partner countries in the format of GUAM+.

Following the meeting, a working dinner was held on behalf of the GUAM Member States for representatives of the embassies accredited to Georgia.

The GUAM Secretary General also met representatives of the Permanent Delegation of the Parliament of Georgia to the PA GUAM. Talking points included inter-parliamentary co-operation and prospects for its further development.
