The FINANCIAL — “It is very important that in the second quarter of 2018 number of economically active population as well as the number of employees has been increased.
At the same time, it is also very important that the increase in the number of employees, which is 45.7 thousand, is caused by the growth of the number of the contract employees where we have about 7% growth, which means another 55.7 thousand newly employed people in our economy,” – the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Ekaterine Mikabadze stated while commenting over the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia. The data confirms that the rate of unemployment was decreased by 1.9% in the second quarter of 2018.
Ekaterine Mikabadze also stressed on the decreasing of the number of self-employed people. According to Mikabadze, this has already become a trend. “The decrease in the number of self-employed people has already become a trend – this number has decreased compared to the previous year as well as the previous quarter. In particular, in the second quarter of 2018, the number of self-employed people, is decreased to 48% in the overall employment rate,” – the Deputy Minister stated.
According to Ekaterine Mikabadze, unemployment and employment statistics clearly indicate the correct economic policy of the Government of Georgia aimed at stimulating the small and medium businesses and creating of new jobs.
