The FINANCIAL — Delta has been honored with two World Travel Awards in the categories of North America’s Leading Airline and United States’ Leading Airline to the Caribbean.
A week ago Delta received three awards in the categories of United States’ Leading Airline to Central America; United States’ Leading Airline to South America; and United States’ Leading Airline to Mexico at the WTA Gala for Latin America in Bogota, Colombia, according to Delta.
“We are honored to be recognized as North America’s Leading Airline and U.S. Leading Airline to the Caribbean. We thank the thousands of customers that voted for Delta on each category for their support and preference,” said Steve Sear, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Global Sales. “It is also thanks to the extraordinary work or our 80,000 employees, the strength of our network and strategic alliances and the investments in the region that we are succeeding in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global tourism industry. The 22nd WTA Awards Caribbean and North America Ceremony held Oct. 17 in the Bahamas was attended by hundreds of government and travel industry leaders as well as international print and broadcast media.
“We invest in understanding our customers’ needs and focus efforts on what is more valuable to them: reliability of services, on-time performance and providing services that resonate culturally in our Latin markets,” said Nicolas Ferri, Delta’s Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean. “We will continue to strive for excellence, adding to Delta’s performance record like we did over summer when the airline delivered record operations with 99.7 percent mainline completion factor (a measure of non-canceled flights) from June 6 to Aug. 17.”
World Travel Awards President Graham Cooke said, “What a week it has been for Delta Air Lines! Having tasted success with three trophies at our Latin America Gala Ceremony just last week, the Delta team has picked up two more this week in the Bahamas, including the prestigious title of North America’s Leading Airline. It is an honor to present these trophies to Delta and I heartily congratulate them on their success.”
