The FINANCIAL — Denver International Airport (DEN) set an all-time record for international passenger traffic in March, with a nearly 14-percent increase in international travelers over March 2017.
More than 273,000 international travelers passed through DEN in March, which is an increase of 33,373 passengers compared to March of last year, according to Denver International Airport.
The airport reached this milestone as United Airlines launched nonstop service to London, and WestJet Airlines began nonstop service to Calgary, Canada. Overall, more than 5.2 million travelers passed through the airport in March.
“March marked the end of the busiest first quarter ever at DEN, reflecting the work we’ve done to provide passengers with more options across the globe,” said DEN CEO Kim Day. “By adding new routes and nonstop destinations, we’re connecting the Rocky Mountain region with the world.”
DEN provided nonstop service to 23 international destinations in March, up from 20 in March of 2017.
Mail, freight and express cargo operations decreased 3 percent in March with 49,719,552 pounds, compared to 51,268,202 pounds of cargo in March 2017.
