The FINANCIAL — Deutsche Securities Inc. (DSI) on March 1 announced the appointment of Yoji Otani to its Global Markets Research department as a Managing Director and Senior Analyst for both the Housing & Real Estates sector and the Construction sector.
Mr. Otani will join the company on May 19, 2010 and newly establish coverage of the Construction sector and assume coverage of the Housing & Real Estate sector from Takeshi Fujita. Mr. Fujita will assume coverage of the REIT sector as Research Analyst.
Yoji Otani was ranked second in the 2009 Nikkei Veritas Analyst Rankings for his coverage of the Housing & Real Estate sector and sixth for his coverage of the Construction sector in 2009, and was ranked third and fifth, respectively, in the same sectors by Institutional Investor in 2009. He joins DSI from Credit Suisse Securities (Japan) Limited, where he was Managing Director and Equity Analyst from March 2000. Mr. Otani began his career with Cosmo Securities Co., Ltd. in 1987, where he began training as an equity analyst, before moving on in 1998 to join HSBC Securities (Japan) Limited and later to join Schroder Japan Limited.
Takeshi Fujita joined DSI in April 2002 and is Vice President and Research Analyst covering the Housing & Real Estate sector. Previously, he worked as an architect and spent five years as a project manager for a major general contractor. He was ranked No. 10 in the Housing & Real Estate sector in the 2009 Nikkei Analyst Rankings and No. 9 for the Housing & Real Estate sector in the 2009 Institutional Investor poll. He was also ranked No.1 in Real Estate in the 2009 StarMine Analyst Awards, Top Earnings Estimators.
The appointment of Mr. Otani follows a series of key appointments by Global Markets Research in the last year, including Naoki Kamiyama as Managing Director and Chief Equity Strategist (May 4, 2009), Yoshio Ando as Director and Senior Analyst for the Telecommunications sector (June 15, 2009), Koichiro Yano as Director and Senior Analyst for the Insurance & Brokerage sector (August 3, 2009), Takahiro Kazahaya as Director and Senior Analyst for the Retail sector (September 7, 2009), Yoshinobu Yamada as Managing Director and Senior Analyst for the Banking sector (September 15, 2009), and Masayuki Nagano as Director and Senior Analyst for the Trading Companies sector (November 16).
