The FINANCIAL — Digital skills development and online employment platform for all the interested – digital skills training program on the basis of the Innovations Centers is to be launched in the different regions of Georgia.
The program will be implemented upon the initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the LEPL Innovation and Technology Agency and the Business and Technology University (BTU), according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
The project aims provide the population with the access to the information technologies which allow to be engaged in so called “remote employment”.
This unique project is implemented through the partnership of the private sector and the executive and legislative branched of the Government.
“The State concentrates serious resources in the development of such technological parks and it is a comfortable environment for young people to grow and achieve their goals. We do our best to facilitate the process by providing variety of equipment and creating similar working spaces to allow them to explore their talents. This is a trendy motion. The youth is setting their demands and we just spread the experience into the regions. We have similar Tech Park in Zugdidi, there are new Fab Labs in the pipeline and this process is taking a systematic character,” – Giorgi Gakharia stated.
The pilot version of the project was launched at the Kaspi Business and Technology Retraining Center, with the support of the Kaspi Municipality and majoritarian Parliament Member of Kaspi. The first stage of the project was successfully completed and the second stage began.
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Gakharia expressed gratefulness to the authors of the project and wished them success.
“By providing the Georgian youth with the elementary knowledge and infrastructure they become capable of living in the global labor market. This is the most important part. You get beyond the borders and enter the global competition with your knowledge. This is something that the development of the digital technologies brings to us and we have no right to lag behind the process,” – Giorgi Gakharia noted.
Trainings will be available at the Zugdidi Technopark as well as in library-based Innovation Centers of Baghdati, Kharagauli and village Choporti.
The beneficiaries of the projects will be trained on the basis of the online training methods and the seminars conducted at the site.
Business and Technology University (BTU), within the framework of the project, has created a remote employment platform Digital Citizen. The platform allows finding the request published in the online space easily and apply to them. The university is the partner to one of the world’s largest employment platform – freelancer.com, whose beneficiaries have access to over 15 million jobs around the world. According to the data, last year the turnover of the remotely fulfilled works has exceeded 2.6 trillion USD.
Within the framework of the project of Georgian Innovation National Ecosystem and with the support of the World Bank, from the second half of 2017 and by the end of 2020, Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency will establish 8 Regional Innovation Hubs and 50 Innovation Centers.
