The FINANCIAL — First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Dimitry Kumsishvili opened the renovated hotel – Golden Tulip Borjomi (former Firuz Hotel), which is located in the historic building of Borjomi. The hotel will be managed by an international management company – Golden Tulip, which is a member of Louvre Hotels Group.
First Deputy Prime Minister toured the renovated hotel, which was primarily built for the Iranian Consul, in 1892 and now possesses a status of the unique cultural monument not only of Georgia. Dimitry Kumsishvili expressed his gratitude to the investor company of Worldfound Universal for their work, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
“It is important that during the reconstruction, the historic appearance as well as the cultural value of the building was maintained,” – Kumsishvili noted. Reportedly, $2 million was invested in the building renovation for installing a high-class hotel.
“Up to 50 people will be employed in the hotel, which is especially gratifying for us, since through the support of the economic policy of the Georgian Government, the private sector is creating new jobs in a variety of areas, including the tourism,” – the Minister reported. According to him, only in 2013-2015, 508 location objects were put into operation in Georgia, which is 41% of the hotels of the country. As of today, tourism and the related sectors have employed more than 158 000 people.
As reported by the First Deputy Prime Minister of Georgia, currently, more than 1 200 hotels operate in Georgia. “This is an important result and we have a clear vision of how to increase the number of visitors from 6 to 11 million” – Kumsishvili said.
Golden Tulip Borjomi has 16 rooms (2 lux and 14 standard rooms). Hotel services include a restaurant, a fitness room, pool, sauna, and a treatment room, which will be used for massage and other medical procedures with Borjomi mineral waters.
