The FINANCIAL — First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Dimitry Kumsishvili, within the framework of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council, is visiting Baku.
Dimitry Kumsishvili held a meeting with the President of the Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
The discussions focused on the close partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan, including the economic cooperation. Dimitry Kumsishvili noted that the tradition of good neighborly relations between the two countries has already had a long history and it is becoming even more productive following the significant contribution of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
Dimitri Kumsishvili said at the meeting that Azerbaijan has been one of the largest trading partners to Georgia during the recent years, and a significant share of investments in the country is implemented from Azerbaijan. Dimitry Kumsishvili also emphasized on Georgia-Azerbaijan cooperation in such important international transit projects as the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway, the Southern Gas Corridor, the One Road, One Belt, etc. Successful cooperation between the countries in the field of tourism and prospects of further development of this cooperation was also discussed during the conversation.
Dimitry Kumsishvili talked about the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 2018 and congratulated Ilham Aliyev on this important date. In 2018, Georgia also marks the 100th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Georgia and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev is invited to attend the solemn ceremony on 26 May, this year.
