The FINANCIAL — First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Dimitry Kumsishvili, within the framework of the visit to Azerbaijan, held a meeting with the Azerbaijan Energy Minister, Parviz Shahbazov.
Cooperation of the two states in the energy sector was given a very high evaluation. According to Dimitry Kumsishvili, Azerbaijan was and still remains a strategic partner to Georgia in the field of energy. “We hope that existing relations will become even more productive for our countries and further developed in other directions,” – the First Vice Prime Minister noted.
At the bilateral meeting, the priority HPP projects and the development of the renewable energy was discussed and it was noted that the country has a great potential in terms of renewable energy sources, which include not just water resources but the expansion of the cooperation in wind, solar, geothermal and biomass energy, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
The Ministers of the two countries emphasized the importance of the Southern Gas Corridor development, which will provide delivery of the Azerbaijan gas to Europe via Georgia and Turkey. The pipeline will be connected to the TANAP and the TAIR gas pipelines in the future, which will result in delivering the gas from the Shah-Deniz field to the European market.
At the end of the meeting, the Ministers confirmed the intention of further development of the cooperation in the transit of the energy-carriers and other important directions.
