The FINANCIAL — Upon the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia the Innovation and Technology Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia constructs the High Technology and Innovation Development Center – the Technology Park. It shall establish the united eco system of the innovations and technologies in order to promote the development of the innovative ideas.
Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Dimitry Kumsishvili visited the site and inspected the on-going construction works. According to the Minister, Georgia shall have its first Technology Park very soon.
“By the end of this year the first Techno Park shall be launched in Georgia. This is the unique place where it will be possible to develop innovations. We will have manufacturing as well as innovation laboratories. It is of outmost importance that newcomer businessmen working in the field of innovation will have the opportunity to hire working places at preferential price. At the same time, individuals will have the opportunity to work in the creative working space. As you can see the building outstandingly beautiful and the place itself was selected properly. Upon the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia, we adapted and adopted the Innovative Strategy 2020 and this Techno Park is one of the components of that Strategy. I would like to note that for 2020 we have ambitious plan to attract quite a significant sum to the State Budget – about 500 million, through export-oriented programs and services sold abroad. Therefore, it would require the preparation of many people. I would like to express gratefulness to the management of the Innovation and Technology Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, which was established in 2014, for the implementation of a lot of very useful reforms. They are in charge of leading this process. Next year we shall start the construction works and all the settlements with the population more than 200 residents will be provided with the fiber-optic cables” – Kumsishvili stated.
The main goal of the eestablishment of the first Technology Park is to develop and increase the number of knowledge-based small and medium-sized enterprises. The Technological Park also provides a unique opportunity to establish the representations of the international companies and attract foreign investments, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
The Technology Park will provide the start-up and small-sized companies with the resources which were difficult to access before. It will play special role in the founding of new companies and new businesses, development of existing business, commercialization of innovations and creation of high-paid jobs.
Technological Parks, generally, have a great impact on the welfare of the society. This is the institution working on the principle of one-window for innovators and serving to transform the ideas into the real prototypes or products.
Technological Parks have significant role in:
• establishing new businesses;
• development of existing businesses;
• founding od new companies;
• commercialization of innovations;
• creation of high-paid jobs.
The High Technology and Innovation Center consists of small incubators as well as educational centers and laboratories, large offices for companies, rooms for co-work and recreation areas. The accelerator, training-centers, show-rooms, high technological incubators, universal laboratories of manufacture innovations, co-working centers, conference hall and other services that shall encourage the development of the industry of high technology will be available in the Park.
It is worth mentioning that the first Technology Park was established in, Silicon Valley, Stanford University, USA in 1950. Currently, the Technology Park is available in 70 countries and they provide services for about 200 000 companies.
Investment of 3 million GELs is allocated on the construction of the first Technology Park and it will be accomplished by the end of the year.
