The FINANCIAL — First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili, within the framework of the Annual Investment Meeting in Dubai, held a presentation on the investment opportunities in Georgia and introduced the vast report to the audience.
First Vice Prime Minister emphasized the dynamics of the economic growth of the country, macroeconomic trends, ongoing and planned reforms, as well as the large-scale investment projects in various sectors of economy, including the real estate and tourism industry. Dimitry Kumsishvili highlighted Georgian Government’s 4-point plan, which main target is the rapid economic growth. The Minister also talked about the joint programs with the support of the International Monetary Fund, which is the basis of the government’s economic program.
Speaking about the reforms carried out by the Georgian Government, the First Vice Prime Minister focused on the profit tax reform, which allows to reinvestment and creation of new jobs. The investors expressed interest in the Free Trade regimes that Georgia has with the EU, China, CIS countries and other major trading partners.
Dimitry Kumsishvili also covered economic indicators of the country and paid special attention to the tourism, which managed to generate revenues of 2.8 billion USD in the economy of the country.
The First Vice Prime Minister also spoke about the high ranking positions of Georgia in the international ratings, including the 9th position in the World Bank’s Doing Business 2018, the 16th position by the Heritage Foundation’s Index of Economic Freedom, etc, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Following the speech delivered by the First Vice Prime Minister, representatives of Georgian companies participating in Dubai forum introduced the presentations on investment projects. Georgian private sector representatives were introduced at the AIM exhibition with the support of the Georgian Government.
Dimitry Kumsishvili is on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates where he held meetings with the senior officials of the country and the heads of the leading companies of the Emirates. The First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia also participated in the final discussion of the Annual Investment Meeting in Dubai, where he talked about Georgia’s reforms and economic tendencies.
