The FINANCIAL — In several days upon the conclusion of the Tbilisi Belt and Road Forum 2017, a delegation of the Chinese investors arrived to Georgia to confirm their interest in investing several million USD in large projects in Georgia.
At the meeting with the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili, the investors from China introduced their proposals and received the detailed information on large-scale investment projects in Georgia’s logistic and energy sectors, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
“The group of Chinese investors expressed huge interest in investing in the Free Industrial and Economic Zones. They talk about the investments amounting to several hundreds millions of USD,” – the First Vice Prime Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili stated after the meeting. Kumsishvili noted that the Chinese investors are currently working on construction of the Industrial Zone in the Sultanate of Oman and the project involves investment totaling to up to 10 billion USD. The Economy Minister also confirmed that the negotiations on the certain projects will be launched promptly.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Cherkezishvili and the Deputy Minister of Energy also attended the meeting.
