The FINANCIAL — On October 27, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Dimitry Kumsishvili held a meeting with H.E. Humayoon Rasaw – the Minister of Commerce and Industries of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Dimitry Kumsishvili, at the very beginning of the meeting, expressed the deepest condolences to the Afghan Minister over the death of hundreds of victims of the terrible earthquake in Afghanistan on October 26, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Economic relations and the main directions of the further cooperation between the two countries were discussed at the meeting.
Afghan Minister expressed keen interest over the implemented as well as on-going reforms in Georgia. It was mentioned that those reforms served well to improve the business environment in Georgia and the country became one of the most attractive destinations in the world for foreign investments in.
Enterprise Promotion governmental program implemented by Georgian Government was paid special attention during the meeting. Afghan Minister was particularly interested in the program Invest in Georgia. It was noted that in 2013-2015 through Enterprise Promotion local private sector managed to create more than 60 thousand new jobs.
Silk Road Transit Corridors and Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, where Afghan governmental delegation took part, also became the part of the conversation. Afghan Minister estimated this direction as significant for Georgia as well as for Afghanistan.
Prospects of cooperation in the field of tourism, innovations, transport, logistics and other sectors were also covered during the conversation.
