The FINANCIAL — First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili held a meeting with the representatives of the Directorate of the EUROCONTROL – European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation, Adrian Heerbaart and Mauricio Romanini.
Cooperation between the EUROCONTROL and the Sakaeronavigatsia Ltd of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia was the main topic of the conversation. It should be noted, that Georgia became the member of the EUROCONTROL in 2014, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Upon becoming the EUROCONTROL member, Georgia established the new standards of safety and this fact was specially highlighted during the meeting. A high level of staff retraining, modern technologies, new buildings of international standards provide excellent opportunities to the state-owned Sakaeronavigatsi Ltd to fulfill its uppermost assignment – to protect flight safety of the Georgian airspace. The meeting also covered the role of the Sakaeronavigatsia Ltd in the implementation of such important initiative as the Single European Sky.
The EUROCONTROL Director of the Central Route Charges Office (CRCO) Directorate and the Pan-European Single Sky Directorate, Adrian Heerbaart and the Chief of the Business and Economic Department, Mauricio Romanini gave the positive evaluation of the Sakaeronavigatsia Ltd progress in the 4-year period following the membership and discussed the prospects of further cooperation.
The idea of holding the EUROCONTROL 2018 enlarged session in Georgia next September was also discussed by the parties.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Cherkezishvili and the Sakaeronavigatsia Ltd Director General, Gocha Mezvrishvili also attended the meeting.
