The FINANCIAL — First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili held a meeting with the representatives of the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Korea who are visiting Georgia within a working visit.
The sides discussed the issues related to deepening economic cooperation between the two countries and talked about the opportunities that Korea and Georgia have in the field of trade, tourism, energy and other important directions, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
One of the main issues that the meeting focused on was the investment interest that the Korean side has in terms of energy sector in Georgia, including the construction of hydroelectric power plants and related infrastructure. It was noted that one of the most important projects in this sector is the Korean company K-Water which is already being implemented in Svaneti Region in cooperation with the Georgian Partnership Fund. The Nenskra HPP, which is being built on the Enguri River, has the total investment value of 1 billion USD. Georgian side also highlighted the interest of the Korean company SK E & C, which was confirmed at the meeting of the company’s representatives with the First Vice Prime Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili few days ago.
The First Vice Prime Minister introduced to the Korean guests the economic reforms implemented by the Georgian Government in terms of business promotion and attracting new investments. As it was said at the meeting, the Free Trade Agreements signed by Georgia is of outmost importance, which even further increases the interest of the international investors in implementing different projects in the economy of the country.
The parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Korea is paying a working visit to Georgia. Davit Saganelidze and Natia Turnava from the Partnership Fund and the Deputy Economy Minister, Georgi Chikovani also attended the meeting.
