The FINANCIAL — First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili provided the heads of the business unions with the detailed information on the China International Import Expo, which is scheduled to be held on November 5-10 in Shanghai, China.
Georgia is invited to participate in the exhibition with a special status. Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze and the Chairman of the LEPL National Wine Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, Giorgi Samanishvili also attended the meeting.
Exhibition space will be spread over 1.5 million square meter uniting 5 locations for exhibiting services and 6 locations for the goods. Georgian exporters will have an opportunity to introduce their products and services to interested people in China, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
“It is the largest exhibition of goods imported to China and informing the private sector on it is of outmost importance, especially at this initial stage in order to let them prepare for the exhibition,” – the Chair of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Georgia, Nino Chikovani stated after the meeting. Chikovani confirmed that the Chamber, in its turn, will spread the information among the companies operating in the capital as well as in the regions. “As you know, the Free Trade Regime with China came into force this year. This is the first Free Trade Agreement in the region allowing the entrepreneurs to fully develop their capabilities. Therefore, organized participation of Georgian companies in such an exhibition is of outmost significance,” – Chikovani added.
“I find that the interest to participate in the exhibition will be very high. We will received even more detailed information from the Enterprise Georgia Agency of the Ministry of Economy and then we will inform the association members and reveal the companies that are interested in participation in the exhibition,” – the CEO of the Business Association, Irakli Aslanishvili noted.
The most impressive growth in the exported to China products is recorded in the Georgian wine export. The Chairman of the LEPL National Wine Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, Giorgi Samanishvili said that “the Chinese market is very important market for Georgian viticulture and winemaking. We had a huge increase in exports las year and in 2018, when the Free Trade Agreement is in force, we expect even mote impressive growth.” According to Samanishvili, exhibitions are very important in general, the companies are keen to participate in as many exhibitions as possible and to better introduce Georgian wine, Georgian winemaking industry and the country itself.
“Such exhibitions are of outmost importance. For the companies wishing to export their products, this is a unique chance. China is a huge country and our strategic partner in terms of realization of products. I believe that such exhibitions will promote the development of the business and motivate the start-up businesses to get their products out of the country and share it to the world,” – Nino Zambakhidze, the Chair of the Farmers’ Association noted.
All the 6 exhibition locations for introduction of goods include halls for exhibiting high performance intellectual equipment, consumer electronics and equipment, auto-cars, clothing, accessories and consumer goods, agricultural products, medical supplies and products for medical cervices. In 5 exhibition locations for introduction of cervices provide the opportunity to exhibit tourism services, developing technologies, culture and education, creative design and service outsourcing.
The deadline for booking the space at the China International Import Expo is June 30, 2018.
Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and People’s Government of the Shanghai City Municipality are official hosts of the exhibition, while the World Trade Organization and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization support the exhibition.
