Henrik Hololei, Director-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission is on the official visit to Georgia to meet local authorities and attend the conference on economics “Georgia and the World 2019” to be held in Georgia on 29-30 January.
Within the scope of the visit, on January 28, Henrik Hololei had the meeting with CEO of the JSC “Georgian Railway” David Peradze .
The parties discussed topics related to the development of the railway sector, , achievements and challenges related to the Europe-Asia transport corridor as well as a company’s strategy and implementation status of the EU regulations by Georgian Railway.
On January 29, Henrik Hololei is taking part at the first meeting of the EU-Georgia High Level Transport Dialogue. The meeting is hosted by The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development George Kobulia. “It is an important meeting, as it aims to develop cooperation between the EU and Georgia.
We have discussed Europe-Asia transport corridor development and its potential as well as ongoing projects currently being implemented by the Georgian Railways. We also talked about the implementation status of the of obligations in the railway sector within the framework of the Association Agreement between the EU and Georgia, ” declared David Peradze, CEO of JSC “Georgian Railway”.
