The FINANCIAL — President of the European Council Donald Tusk held talks with Moldovan leaders in Chisinau today, stressing the EU would “remain a strong friend and supporter of Moldova” and that “a successful reform process will benefit the country and its people”.
During his meeting with President Nicolae Timofti, they discussed the implementation of the Association Agreement, saying the significant increase in trade in 2014 was a sign that things were moving in the right direction, according to EU Neighbourhood Info Centre.
“At the same time, more needs to be done to advance reforms in a way that makes a real change. Also for ordinary citizens. We discussed the need to reform the justice system and fight corruption as two priority areas in this respect.”
Tusk also met Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici, saying the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Moldova and the EU would “create unprecedented opportunities for Moldovan businesses, boost investment and create new jobs”.
