The FINANCIAL — On 24 March 2016, Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze took part in the annual Donor Coordination Forum “International Co-operation for Development”, according to MFA of Georgia.
Mikheil Janelidze spoke about the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and the importance of the adoption of the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda.
Mikheil Janelidze emphasised that the Georgian Foreign Ministry is focused on ensuring that the Government’s positive experience in carrying out reforms and projects in priority areas is duly highlighted and brought to the attention of the international community.
The Foreign Minister thanked the UN Development Programme, UN Population Fund and UN Children’s Fund for the projects they have carried out in Georgia, especially in the Abkhasian region, which is highly important given the limited extent of humanitarian activities in the occupied territories. Mikheil Janelidze also expressed his gratitude to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees for the assistance directed towards internally displaced persons.
The Donor Coordination Forum was attended by representatives of all donor countries and international organisations. Within the framework of the Forum, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and other members of the Government provided the international partners with information on the ongoing social and economic reforms, as well as on the future plans for development.
