The FINANCIAL — Unicard, the popular bonus card in Georgia, plans to expand its chain and enter several cities of Georgia as well as increase the number of cardholders to a million in 2011, according to Ana Koshadze, Public Relations Manager at Unicard.
Moreover, the company will be offering several activities together with partner companies: Embawood, Beko, Voulez Vous and New Light. Within the framework of joint activities cardholders will receive discounts, presents and increased points.
“From the beginning of March, Unicard together with Beko plan to start a joint campaign. Within the framework of the project cardholders will be receiving double points and discounts on different production. Moreover, in March we will have joint activities together with Embawood, Voulez Vous and New Light. The exact details of the offers will be revealed to customers soon,” Koshadze said.
The activities are conducted within different fields, and target different segment customers. Unicard each month will have two or more different type activities.
Unicard entered the Georgian market in the beginning of April, and currently is available in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi and Rustavi.
Unicard can be used in more than 1,000 locations, with more than 200 partner companies. Only in 2011, up to 15 new companies became Unicard partners in all four cities. Moreover, 43 new locations were added including some of the partner company’s new branches and the rest – new company networks.
“The number of local partner companies in Batumi exceeds 35, while in Kutaisi there are 20, as for Rustavi, currently we are working on switching local companies,” Koshadze said.
The number of cardholders was half a million in 2010 and 30,000 individuals have started using the card since the year 2011. “The card is free and can be obtained at the Unicard service centre,” Koshadze stated.
Unicard has already distributed more than 300,000 gifts. As Koshadze said, they observe increased demand for gifts from month to month. The gifts are available from the service centre, as well as the option of them being delivered to your home free of charge.
The trend for most popular presents remains unchanged. The top five most popular gifts include: Wissol Petrol coupons, Geocell services, home appliances, computer technology and jewellery.
“Gifts at Unicard are accessible from 12 points and up. The most expensive is a laptop – 15,619 points, however, in the catalogue a much lower point laptop is available at 4,988 points,” Koshadze said.
The highest point gifts already given out by Unicard include: a washing machine (6,890 points), Samsung C 6112 Duos mobile phone (2,889 point), two digital photo cameras (2,589), and a music centre (2,708 point).
“From April, the company will present its new spring-summer catalogue, which is formed after observation of client’s habits and demands,” Koshadze said.
Unicard is also switched to Geocell draws. In case of purchasing 5 GEL talk time by Unicard points, the cardholder automatically receives 1 ticket.
Unicard announced a media competition in October 2010 – Unicard Your Dream Card. All journalists involved in the media sphere were invited to participate. “The competition materials turned out to be pretty interesting: a TV plot, radio plot, newspaper and internet articles,” said Koshadze.
“The awards ceremony was organized on 29 December, 2010. According to the judge’s decision, the total amount of 6,000 GEL which was originally intended for 3 winners, was divided among 16 competitors,” Koshadze added.
Unicard plans to conduct similar activities for journalists in 2011.
Unicard is one of the Georgian companies which has accumulated the most “likes” on facebook, already counting more than 22,400 likes.
“Despite the above mentioned activities we also have point draws on Facebook. Moreover, we have already announced a competition to design the cover of the spring-summer catalogue,” said Koshadze.
The winner will get interesting prizes. For using the catalogue concept idea the winner will receive 500 GEL, while using the whole cover the winner gets a prize of 1,000 GEL as well as employment prospects at Unicard. Moreover the winner will be revealed via accumulated likes and get 1,000 points. There is a chance that the same author will be winner according to likes and the judge’s decision.
