The FINANCIAL — The Air Mauritius Board of Directors met today, 09th of March 2015 and appointed Dr Arjoon Suddhoo as Board Director and elected him Chairman.
Dr Arjoon Suddhoo was born on the 11th of November 1958 in Mauritius. After winning the national Laureateship 1978, he completed his Aeronautical Engineering course with First Class Honours at the University of Manchester and pursued a PhD in Aeronautics at the same University. He is also holder of an MBA with Distinction from the University of Liverpool. After his post-doctoral research at Manchester University, he worked for Rolls-Royce Aerospace in UK for eight years. During those years, Dr Suddhoo worked in close collaboration with Cambridge and Oxford Universities as well as the MIT.
In 1993, Dr Suddhoo returned to Mauritius to be employed as Head of Research and Planning by the Tertiary Education Commission and subsequently, in 1998, he became Executive Director of the Mauritius Research Council, a position he still occupies today, according to Air Mauritius.
Dr Suddhoo was Chairman of Air Mauritius during the period 2001 to 2005 and is currently the President of the Aeronautical Society of Mauritius. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, Fellow of the Mauritius Institute of Directors and a Fellow (Secretary) of the Mauritius Academy of Sciences. He was also appointed Visiting Professor, Chair in Innovation, Queens University, Ireland.
